The Mekong Border Cruise is a charming two days comfortable cruise in the course of inaccessible mountains and sandy beaches of the mighty Mekong the lifeblood of Laos. You can pamper yourself and be close to nature by spending the night in Hotel in Pakbeng, the small city on the way to the world Heritage site of Luang Prabang
Day 1: The boat departs from Houei Sai pier at 9:30 AM. (latest around 10: 30 AM). Please ensure you arrive at the Lao immigration office by 8:30 AM at the latest. After completing Thai immigration formalities, purchase your bus ticket and cross into Laos. Once you have completed the immigration process, our English speaking guide will be waiting at the exit gate with a signboard to welcome you. We will then transfer everyone to the boat pier for your day cruise to Pakbeng.
– Ban Houei Phalam is a small traditional Kamu village nestled on the Mekong river between Houei Say and Pakbeng.
This village was built early this century and is now home to more than 85 families. Kamu houses are traditionally built on stilts. The houses are mostly made of local wood but sometimes they use plaited bamboo for the walls.
– The space underneath the houses is used as a storage place for tools, firewood and animals such as chickens, ducks, pigs etc. The interior layout of Kamu houses consists of one large room that welcomes the whole family and features a corner for cooking. The most elaborate houses also have a large balcony along the entire length of the house.
– Lunch is served on board in a buffet style with a main course from Laos’ main culinary delights as well as a choice of fish and meat dishes.
– The river cruise arrives at Pakbeng before sunset, giving plenty of time to refresh, enjoy the scenery of the river and admire the surrounding nature.
Day 2: Our cruise will depart at 08: 00 AM, so please be ready around 7: 45 AM at the pier. Lunch will be served around 12: 00 AM. during the way the boat will stop for visiting the fabulous Pak ou cave. This cave housing more than 2000 Buddha.
our English speaking guide will give you brief history of the cave.
After leaving the cave, you will take a short boat trip to Xanghai Village, the Lao Whisky Village, where you will experience how Lao Whisky is made and sample it (approximately 40 minutes of visit time). Then continue to the heritage of Luang Prabang.
Our boat will arrive in Luang Prabang around 5:00 PM, then our driver will take you to your hotel. End of service.
